Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA) and
Bailey Allmon (Woodbine, MD) and sprinter
Rayna Thompson (Brentwood, NH) delivered All-New England performances as the Engineers competed at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Coast Guard on Friday and Saturday.
As a team the Crimson and Gray amassed 11 team points to finish in a tie for 24th place with St. Joseph's (ME) and Westfield State. Tufts was crowned the team champion totaling 94 points to easily out-distance second Conn College by 34 points.
The junior duo of Brown and Allmon each achieved personal records in the 400 meter hurdles. Brown secured third place with a time of 1:05.83, earning 6 points, while Allmon finished sixth in 1:07.70, adding 3 points to the team's score. Thompson earned All-New England honors by finishing seventh with a personal-best time of 58.64 seconds, contributing 2 points to WPI's team score.
On the distance side, junior
Sophia Reynolds (Andover, NH/) crossed the line in 12:13.07 in the 3000-meter steeplechase to place 14th overall while in the sprint, classmate
Corryn Fisher (Swansea, MA) ran 15.90 in the 100-meter hurdles prelims, placing 20th overall.
In the field events,
Piper O'Connell (North Attleboro, MA) tossed the javelin to 34.14 meters (112-0) to place 12th, just outside the final while fellow senior
Cassie Zimmerman (East Hampton, CT) finished 26th in the triple jump with a leap of 10.36 meters (34-0) on her second attempt
Select members of the Crimson and Gray will continue their season at one of two two-day meets next weekend. Williams will host the Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza Meet while the 2025 NEICAAA Outdoor Championships will be contested at UMass Amherst.
