Avi Bissoondial (Millbury, MA) completed the 2024 campaign with a program-best effort at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Bissoondial, an NCAA Division III All-East Region honoree, earned the program's fastest time of 24:58.2 in the 8k national championship trek this afternoon and posted the second-best placement behind Hall of Famer
David Berthaime who recorded a 58th-place finish in 1990.
Out of 32 teams and 294 runners, Bissoondial finished 60th overall with a program's best time at the national stage, the 24:59.2 time surpasses former teammate
Benjamin Steeves '21 who recorded a 25:05.2 in 2021 in Louisville, Kentucky.
2024 marked Bissoondial's third appearance at the national meet as he was the men's team's alternate runner in 2021 and qualified individually last year where he logged a 25:58.2 time for 144th-place overall.
Christian Patzka of Wisconsin-Whitewater clinched the national title with a 24:01.6 time. Wisconsin-La Crosse avenged it's one-point second-place finish from 2023 with the team title this fall.
