Birmingham, AL ---
Gavin Fleck (Bend, OR) reached the podium at the NCAA Division III Championships for the second time in his career as the senior became a three-time All-American with an eighth-place finish in the pole vault at the 2026 Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The meet is being co-hosted by the Southern Athletic Association.

Classmate
Everett Mosher (Chester, VT) also competed Friday, earning second team All-America honors with a 16th-place finish in the mile. The point scored by Fleck made the Crimson and Gray one of just 26 schools in Division III to record at least one top-eight performance among the five events with contested finals on Friday. UW-Oshkosh leads the team standings with 38 points, nearly twice as many as second-place Washington (MO) with 19.5 points. The Titans claimed individual titles in the pole vault, weight throw, and long jump.
Â
Fleck entered the competition at the second height of 4.83m (15-10) and proved to have a flair for the dramatic, clearing on his third and final attempt. The senior had no trouble with the next height of 5.03m (16-6), registering a successful first attempt before becoming one of 11 competitors to clear 5.08m (16-8) on his second try. Fleck's bid for a national championship ended at 5.13m (16-10), where he and six others were unable to clear the bar. After accounting for previous misses, the Oregon native finished eighth in the 20-person field.
Â
The pole vaulter had earlier reached the podium with a seventh-place finish at the 2024 Indoor Championship and later earned second-team All-America honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) after placing ninth at the Outdoor Championship in May 2024.
Â
Mosher's race in the mile was a physical one, with the senior starting in the middle of the pack with an opening split of 32.76. The race featured plenty of back-and-forth movement, with Mosher climbing as high as fourth just past 1,200 meters (3:13.49) following his fastest split of the day (29.95). The senior crossed the finish line in 4:16.24, placing eighth in his heat and 16th overall to earn USTFCCCA second-team All-America honors.
Overall, the WPI Track and Field now sports 79 All-Americas won, including 61 since 2009 when now Director of Cross Country and Track FieldÂ
Brian Chabot took over as head coach. It marks the 10th and 11th for third-year head coachÂ
