Baseball’s Wiberg and Keblin Sweep NEWMAC Baseball Weekly Accolades

NEWMAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week & Athlete of the Week
Marlboro, MA — WPI baseball's seniors Jacob Wiberg (Exeter, NH) and Liam Keblin (Newton, MA) were selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week for the week ending on March 15.

Wiberg turned in a strong week on the bump, recording a 1-0 record with a 0.00 ERA across two starts as the Crimson and Gray finished their season-opening Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with an unblemished 8-0 ledger. The senior right-hander tossed 10.0 scoreless innings, allowing just seven hits, striking out 11, and holding opponents to a .200 batting average. Wiberg opened the week with a dominant outing against Rivier, striking out seven over five scoreless innings in a 12-2 victory and followed that effort with another five shutout innings against Otterbein, scattering three hits and striking out four as WPI secured a 3-2 win.

Keblin hit .583 (7-for-12) with two doubles, a home run, and eight RBI across four games during WPI's undefeated stint in Myrtle Beach. The infielder posted a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage while not striking out in 15 plate appearances. Keblin opened the week with a four-RBI outing against Rivier and followed with a 3-for-3 effort, including a home run and three RBI, in a win over Immaculata.

This week's honors mark the first career NEWMAC weekly accolades for both Wiberg and Keblin and the first two of the season for the Crimson and Gray program.

WPI (8-0) returns home for a three-game homestand at the New England Baseball Complex (NEBC) starting tomorrow against Roger Williams followed by games on Thursday and Friday against Suffolk and Fitchburg State respectively, all with 3:30pm start times before venturing to Providence to take on Johnson & Wales on Saturday in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 1pm.
