Men’s Basketball’s Molen Claims Regional First Team Recognition from D3hoops.com and NABC

WORCESTER --- WPI Men's Basketball junior forward Justin Molen (Newark, DE) was recently named to the D3hoops.com Region 2 First Team on Monday followed by National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Tuesday.

The 2025-26 D3hoops.com All-Region teams were announced Monday, marking the 25th season the organization has recognized the top players across Division III. Players were nominated by Sports Information Directors at institutions nationwide, with 797 student-athletes appearing on ballots. Voting was conducted by a panel of SIDs to determine All-Region selections across the country's 10 regions.

All-Region honorees are now eligible for selection to the D3hoops.com All-America teams, which will be announced later this month. Region 2 major awards featured Endicott's Marcus Montagnino as Player of the Year and Endicott's Kevin Bettencourt as the Coach of the Year. Babson's Thomas Ferdinando was named Rookie of the Year.

The NABC followed with its 2025-26 Division III All-District Teams release on Tuesday. The honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division III. Montagnino and Coach Bettencourt doubled up with major honors as they collected Player of the Year and Coach of the Year recognition for District 2, respectively.

Molen adds both accolades to an already decorated campaign after being named the 2025-26 NEWMAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Year. The junior forward was a dominant force for the Crimson and Gray, leading the team with 14.8 points and 3.9 assists per game as he ranked in the top-10 in scoring and third overall in assists. Molen stretched the floor with 39 threes on the season, marking third among the program and 16th in the league while shooting at a 37.9% clip.

A consistent presence on both ends of the floor, Molen also paced WPI with 188 total rebounds, averaging seven per game to rank among the top five in the NEWMAC. Defensively, he led the Crimson and Gray with 14 blocks and shared the team-high in steals with 33. Molen's breakout junior season marks his first career All-Region and All-District selections.

WPI concluded the 2025-26 campaign with a 21-6 overall record, capturing its fifth consecutive NEWMAC regular season title and earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
