Â
Game One
WPI jumped out early and held off a late La Roche rally to take the first game, 6-4.
Â
Camden Willems (The Woodlands, TX) paced the Engineers offensively with three hits and a run scored, while
Jack Zawacki (Pittsford, NY) went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Jacob Wiberg (Exeter, NH) added two hits including an RBI double, and
Zachary Roethlein (Pomfret Center, CT) recorded two hits and scored a run.

Robert Runge (Manasquan, NJ) followed with 1.1 scoreless innings of relief, and
Brian Riley (Portland, ME) recorded the final three outs.
Â
WPI struck first in the opening inning when Willems scored on a wild pitch after advancing on a base hit from Wiberg. The Engineers extended the lead in the second inning with three runs, capitalizing on La Roche errors and an RBI double down the left-field line from Wiberg.
Â
La Roche chipped away with runs in the fourth and fifth, but WPI responded in the bottom of the fourth when Zawacki doubled to left field to drive in
Jonathan Lattimer (Windsor, CT).
Â
The Engineers added an insurance run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from
Liam Keblin (Newton, MA) that scored
Miles Pratt (Hampton, NH), pushing the lead to 6-2.
Â
La Roche made things interesting with two runs in the seventh, but Riley closed the door to secure the win.
Â
Game Two
WPI completed the sweep with a 5-3 victory in the second game behind timely hitting and solid pitching.
Â
Greyson Baldizar (Seekonk, MA) delivered the decisive blow with a three-run double in the seventh inning that scored Wiberg, Willems and
Matt Shea (Salem, NH) to give the Engineers a 5-2 advantage.
Â
Willems and Wiberg again led the offense, each driving in a run earlier in the game. Willems doubled home Keblin in the fifth before Wiberg followed with an RBI single to put WPI ahead.
Â
Dominic Monico (Litchfield, NH) started on the mound and went 4.2 innings, allowing two runs while striking out five.
Alex Hee (Walpole, MA) earned the win with two innings of relief, and
Mason Walls (Pearland, TX) recorded the save by inducing the final out in the seventh.
Â
La Roche scored in the second and fifth innings to keep the game close and added a run in the seventh, but the Engineers were able to hold on to complete the sweep.
Â
WPI's defense was noteworthy on Sunday in its first games of the 2026 season, following a preseason that was conducted almost entirely indoors due to arguably the harshest New England winter in more than a decade. Head coach
Brendan Casey's squad did not commit an error in either contest, successfully handling all 54 of its fielding chances on the day. It also marked Casey's first day with his father, John, an NABC Hall of Famer, on the bench serving as the Crimson and Gray's pitching coach.
WPI continues play at the Myrtle Beach Spring Break Tournament on Monday when the Engineers face Rivier at 6:30pm La Roche also remains in South Carolina, next taking on Manhattanville tomorrow at 12:30pm.
