WPI was limited to six hits in a 6-0 setback in the opener as Wheaton's pitching staff did not allow a baserunner past second base.

Matt Shea (Salem, NH) led the Engineers with a 2-for-3 performance, while
Miles Pratt (Hampton, NH) doubled and
Liam Keblin (Newton, MA) added a hit.

Jacob Wiberg (Exeter, NH) took the loss, striking out six over eight innings.

Wheaton struck first in the opening inning as
Collin Reilly (Marshfield, MA) delivered an RBI single following a stolen base by
Marcus Rodrigues (Lincoln, RI). The Lyons added a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by
Robbie Lamond (North Kingstown, RI) before breaking the game open with a four-run eighth inning. Lamond highlighted the rally with a two-run double, while
Ray Toth (Granby, MA) followed with a two-run single to cap the scoring.

On the mound,
Aiden Cardoza (Dartmouth, MA) earned the win for Wheaton, tossing seven scoreless innings while allowing five hits and striking out five. Lamond drove in three runs, while
Brayden Lewis (Hopedale, MA) collected two hits and three stolen bases to lead the Lyons offensively

Game #2
The nightcap featured offense throughout, but WPI came up just short in a 10-9 walk-off loss.

Four Engineers collected three hits apiece, led by
Jonathan Lattimer (Windsor, CT), who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, a double and two runs scored. Wiberg added three hits and two RBI, while
Drew Herlin (Wrentham, MA) and
Jack Zawacki (Pittsford, NY) also recorded three-hit efforts.

WPI jumped in front with three runs in the third inning as Lattimer delivered a two-run single and Wiberg followed with an RBI knock. The Engineers extended the lead to 5-2 in the fifth on run-scoring doubles from Lattimer and Wiberg.

Wheaton responded with a four-run bottom of the fifth, highlighted by a three-run home run from Lewis to take a 6-5 advantage. The Lyons added three more runs in the sixth, capitalizing on WPI miscues to extend the lead to 9-6.

WPI battled back, tying the game at 9-9 with two runs in the eighth as Herlin delivered a clutch two-out single. However, Wheaton answered in the ninth as
Ty Bellan (Franklin, MA) delivered a two-out RBI single to right to complete the walk-off win.

Wheaton returns to action tomorrow when it travels to Keene State for a noon first pitch while the Engineers host New England College on Tuesday at the NEBC at 3:30pm.
