College Sports Communicators Academic All-America - Justin Molen - WPI Men's Basketball
WORCESTER — WPI men's basketball junior Justin Molen (Newark, DE) has been selected to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Academic All-America Third Team as voted on by College Sports Communicators and released today.
Molen earns his first career Academic All-America honor after being named to the Academic All-District team earlier this season and becomes the most recent recipient since John Adams in 2024.
The junior forward turned in a dominant 2025-26 campaign, capturing NEWMAC Player of the Year accolades while leading the Crimson and Gray with 14.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. He added 3.9 assists per contest, becoming the only player in the conference to rank in the top 10 in scoring, rebounding, and assists. Molen started 24 of 27 games and shot an efficient 46.2% from the field and 37.9% from beyond the arc.
In addition to conference recognition, Molen garnered NABC All-Region II First Team and D3hoops.comRegion II First Team honors.
In the classroom, the chemical engineering major owns a 3.83 cumulative grade-point average. A two-time NEWMAC All-Academic Team selection and five-time Dean's List honoree, Molen has also completed an Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP) in Copenhagen, Denmark, developing a volunteer management system.
Molen has played a key role in one of the most successful stretches in program history, helping the Engineers to three consecutive NEWMAC regular season championships (2024-26) and two NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 run in 2025. During his career thus far, WPI has compiled a 66-17 overall record and a 43-5 mark in conference play.
The Crimson and Gray posted a 21-6 overall record and a 14-2 mark in NEWMAC play this winter en route to claiming their fifth consecutive regular season crown and earned an at-large berth into the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship.
