Men's Basketball's Molen Earns D3hoops.com Preseason Third Team All-America Honors

WORCESTER --- WPI men's basketball senior Justin Molen (Newark, DE) has been named to the 2026-27 D3hoops.com Preseason All-America Third Team, as announced by the national basketball publication Wednesday afternoon.

Molen is one of just 25 student-athletes nationwide selected to the five preseason All-America teams, earning the recognition following a standout juDnior campaign that featured conference, regional and national academic accolades. He is the first Engineer to garner preseason All-America recognition from D3hoops.com since the 2022-23 campaign, when John Adams '24 and John Lowther '23 earned Second Team and Fourth Team honors, respectively.

The senior forward enters the 2026-27 season following a breakout year in which he was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Athlete of the Year and earned his first career All-NEWMAC selection. Molen also garnered D3hoops.com Region II First Team and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Region II First Team honors, establishing himself among the region's top performers.

Molen paced the Crimson and Gray with 14.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game during the 2025-26 campaign while adding 3.9 assists per outing. The forward was the only player in the NEWMAC to rank among the conference's top 10 in scoring, rebounding and assists. The Delaware native started 24 of WPI's 27 contests, shooting 46.2% from the floor and 37.9% from beyond the arc.

His efforts helped guide the Engineers to a 21-6 overall record and a 14-2 mark in conference play as WPI captured its fifth consecutive NEWMAC regular season championship.

Beyond his accomplishments on the hardwood, Molen earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Third Team recognition last spring after previously securing Academic All-District honors. A chemical engineering major with a 3.83 cumulative grade-point average, Molen is also a two-time NEWMAC All-Academic selection and was among eight WPI student-athletes named to the 2025-26 NABC Honors Court.

The D3hoops.com preseason All-America teams are selected from previous All-America honorees and All-Region nominees. Molen is one of five student-athletes named to the Third Team ahead of the upcoming season.

WPI checks in at No. 2 in the NEWMAC Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll and will open the 2026-27 campaign at Nichols on November 7th at 1pm.
