Wrestling’s Bernard and Pavis Named NWCA Scholar All-Americans; Team Ranked 13th in Scholar Team Top 30

NWCA Scholar All-American Awards - Joseph Bernard, Charlie Pavis
Manheim, PA --- WPI wrestling junior Joseph Bernard (Stratham, NH) and senior Charlie Pavis(Bethlehem, PA) garnered 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-America honors as announced by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) recently. WPI also received team distinction, landing among the nation's top programs in the Team Scholar All-America Top 30.
 
Bernard collects his second-consecutive career NWCA Scholar All-America accolade in 2026. The junior biochemistry major sports a 3.86 cumulative GPA and has been a steady presence in the lineup with a 23-11 record en route to placing sixth at the NCAA Region 1 Tournament this season. 
 
Pavis joins Bernard in the national recognition as he earned his first career Scholar All-America distinction. The senior, who majors in management engineering, paired his academic success with contributions on the mat throughout the 2025-26 season posting a 16-6 record concluded by a fourth-place showing at the NCAA regional tournament. 
 
For individual honors, student-athletes must either place in the top eight at their respective regional tournament or compete in at least 15 matches with a winning percentage of 66 percent or higher. In the classroom, wrestlers must maintain a GPA of at least 3.2 over the previous academic terms or cumulatively.
 
As a team, the Crimson and Gray continued their tradition of academic excellence by earning a place in the NWCA Team Scholar All-America Top 30 at No. 13 with a 3.679 team GPA. Augsburg earned the Scholar Team Award with a 3.86 team GPA.  
 
WPI wrapped up the 2025-26 season with an 8-9 dual meet record highlighted by Bernard and Pavis' podium finishes at the NCAA regional meet.
