Louisville, KY — Following one of the most successful seasons in program history both on the field and in the classroom, the WPI softball team placed 17 student-athletes on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete list for the 2025-26 academic year.
The annual recognition honors collegiate student-athletes who achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher during the 2025-26 academic year.
Representing WPI on the 2025-26 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete list are Destiny Lum (Kahalu?u, HI), Suzannah Figler (Baltimore, MD), Virginia McKinney (Larchmont, NY), Elizabeth Jordan (Yardley, PA), Grace Grant (Orlando, FL), Riley O'Brien (Wynantskill, NY), Emma Nagy (Monroe, WA), Amelia Davis (New Bedford, MA), Ariana Kreuzer (Walpole, MA), Kaitlyn Barr (Grosse Pointe Woods, MI), Lucy Latour (North Dighton, MA), Naomi Boldebuck (Billerica, MA), Sandra Fairbairn (Norton, MA), Mia Francisco (Hudson, NH), Colleen Mayer (Hillsborough, NJ), Meg Sherwood (Norfolk, MA) and Alison Chalovich (Pittsburgh, PA).
Leading the way among the repeat honorees were Francisco and Sherwood, who each earned NFCA Scholar-Athlete recognition for the fourth consecutive year. Barr, Boldebuck, Fairbairn, Lum and McKinney collected their third career honors after previously earning recognition in 2025. Davis, Figler, Grant, Jordan, Kreuzer, Latour and Mayer each secured their second consecutive selection to the academic squad. Chalovich garnered the distinction for the first time in her collegiate career.
The classroom accomplishments complement a remarkable season on the diamond for the Crimson and Gray. WPI finished the spring with a 44-5 overall record, establishing a program record for victories while capturing the NEWMAC regular season championship with a 19-1 conference mark. The Engineers also secured the NEWMAC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament after spending much of the season ranked among the top teams in NCAA Division III.
Several of WPI's scholar-athletes also earned significant postseason recognition. Nagy was selected as an NFCA Second Team All-American after batting in the heart of one of the nation's most productive offenses. Latour garnered NFCA Third Team All-America honors, while Boldebuck, Fairbairn, McKinney and O'Brien all collected postseason all-region recognition.
The Engineers' excellence extended to the classroom as well. Nagy, Boldebuck, Fairbairn, McKinney and Latour were each named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. WPI's continued commitment to achievement both academically and athletically.
Under the leadership of head coach Heather Ross, WPI has established itself as one of Division III softball's premier programs, consistently pairing elite academic performance with championship-caliber results on the field.
The NFCA will release its full team academic rankings and national academic award announcement in August.
