WORCESTER --- WPI Softball had five student-athletes named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Academic All-District Team as announced recently. Representing the Engineers were senior
Emma Nagy (Monroe, WA), juniors
Virginia McKinney (Larchmont, NY),
Naomi Boldebuck (Billerica, MA), and
Sandy Fairbairn (Norton, MA), along with sophomore
Lucy Latour(North Dighton, MA).
Nagy collected the distinction for the second time in her career after previously earning CSC Academic All-District recognition in 2024, while McKinney, Boldebuck, and Fairbairn each garnered the honor for the second consecutive season. Latour earned the accolade for the first time in her career.
Nagy enjoyed one of the top offensive seasons in program history, earning first team All-NEWMAC, NFCA All-Region II First Team and NFCA Division III Second Team All-America accolades at first base. The senior aerospace engineering major led the NEWMAC in home runs (19), RBI (62), and slugging percentage (.855) while batting .382 with 58 hits, 13 doubles, and 42 runs scored over 49 starts. Nagy closed her standout career with 44 home runs and 155 RBI across 159 career games while maintaining a 3.69 cumulative GPA. A two-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference selection, Nagy also helped WPI capture both the NEWMAC regular season and tournament championships in 2026.
McKinney continued her stellar two-way impact for the Engineers, both academically and athletically, while earning her second consecutive CSC Academic All-District honor. The junior mechanical engineering major owns a 3.87 cumulative GPA and helped anchor the outfield during WPI's historic 44-win campaign. McKinney, who was also named NFCA All-Region II Third Team this spring, concluded the season batting .417 with 55 hits, 45 runs scored, 34 RBI and 20 stolen bases while helping the Engineers secure the program's first NCAA Regional hosting opportunity.
Boldebuck anchored the Crimson and Gray's pitching staff en route to first team All-NEWMAC and NFCA All-Region II First Team recognition. The junior mechanical engineering major compiled a 16-4 record with a 3.07 ERA across 139 innings pitched and 28 appearances, adding 69 strikeouts and 18 complete games. A two-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference selection and second consecutive CSC Academic All-District recipient, Boldebuck owns a 3.89 GPA and has totaled 41 career victories and 203 strikeouts during her collegiate career. Off the field, she serves as a Peer Learning Assistant in the WPI Physics Department mentoring undergraduate students.
Fairbairn powered another dominant season at shortstop, earning first team All-NEWMAC and NFCA All-Region II Second Team honors while being selected the NEWMAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player. The junior infielder batted .398 with 64 hits, 19 doubles, seven triples, 12 home runs and 58 RBI while scoring 48 runs and stealing 14 bases. Fairbairn, a computer science and data science double major with a perfect 4.00 GPA, was also recognized with the NEWMAC Laurels of Academic Excellence honor during championship weekend. A two-time CSC Academic All-District selection and six-time Dean's List honoree, Fairbairn already ranks among the top offensive players in program history with 176 career hits, 31 home runs and 155 RBI.
Latour emerged as one of the nation's premier offensive threats during her sophomore campaign, garnering first team All-NEWMAC, NFCA All-Region II First Team and NFCA Division III Third Team All-America honors. The sophomore mechanical engineering major led the conference with a .500 batting average, 79 hits, 66 runs scored and 26 walks while adding 17 doubles, five triples, nine home runs and 23 stolen bases. Latour posted a .576 on-base percentage and .842 slugging percentage while striking out just eight times in 158 at-bats. The sophomore owns a 3.96 cumulative GPA and is a four-time Dean's List honoree.
WPI concluded the 2026 season with a 44-5 overall record, marking the winningest campaign in program history. The Engineers captured both the NEWMAC regular season and tournament championships while earning an NCAA Tournament berth and hosting the first NCAA Regional in program history. WPI also finished the season nationally ranked and produced a program-record seven NFCA All-Region selections and three NFCA All-Americans.
College Sports Communicators Academic All-District softball teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with those advancing to the national ballot denoted by an asterisk on the official release.
First-, second- and third-team CSC Academic All-America honorees for NCAA Division III softball will be announced on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
