WORCESTER -- WPI men's soccer senior
Evan Haas (Concord, NH) has been selected to the 2025 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-East Region Second Team, as announced by the organization.
The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined achievements on the field and in the classroom. Haas was one of just 11 student-athletes named to the Second Team in the East Region and earned the distinction following a standout senior campaign for the Engineers. He carried a 3.97 grade point average in electrical and computer engineering while serving as a team captain and key contributor along WPI's back line.
Haas becomes the latest WPI men's soccer student-athlete to earn regional academic recognition after helping guide the Engineers to an 8-7-5 record and a return trip to the NEWMAC Championship match for the second time in three seasons.
A three-time CSC Academic All-District selection and three-time All-NEWMAC honoree, Haas started all 18 matches he appeared in during the 2025 campaign. The senior defender contributed two goals and one assist, including a helper on the game-winning goal that secured WPI's postseason berth.
Haas collected additional honors from the United Soccer Coaches following the 2025 season as he was selected to the All-Region II Second Team, collecting his first career regional soccer honor after earning All-NEWMAC Second Team recognition for the second consecutive season.
Over the course of his career, Haas appeared in 61 matches with 56 starts, logging 4,856 minutes while helping the Engineers reach NEWMAC Championship matches in both 2023 and 2025. He played a pivotal role in WPI's 2023 conference championship run and was a cornerstone of a defensive unit that consistently ranked among the conference's best.
Away from the pitch, Haas has distinguished himself academically and through service. A six-time Dean's List recipient, he completed an Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP) in Ecuador focused on assisting underserved populations in Cuenca. He also serves as Co-Projects Chair for the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society and as the men's soccer representative on WPI's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
To be eligible for United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region consideration, student-athletes must be at least a junior academically, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and make significant contributions to their team on the field.
