NEWMAC Winter Sportsmanship-WPI Athletics-2026

Morvillo, Stone, McCullough and Tsang Selected to NEWMAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Team

2026-26 NEWMAC Winter Sportsmanship Team
Marlboro, MA --- WPI men's and women's basketball seniors Matt Morvillo (Bedford, MA) and Megan Stone (Hanson, MA) and men's and women's swimming and diving seniors Gavin McCullough (Colorado Springs, CO) and Rachel Tsang (Acton, MA) were chosen to their respective NEWMAC sportsmanship teams following the winter championship season.

The NEWMAC Sportsmanship Team is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport, who best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of their overall performance or statistics for the season.

The honorees, selected by their respective coaching staffs, have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior that go above and beyond the sport's playing rules and etiquette.

What the coaches are saying:

Chris Bartley - Head Men's Basketball Coach on Matt Morvillo - "Matt had an aggressive and physical play demeanor, and displayed respect to opponents. He played with intensity and integrity while maintaining class in victory and defeat."

Cherise Galasso - Head Women's Basketball Coach on Megan Stone - "1Megan is just someone you genuinely love to coach.  She competes at a high level every day yet never loses sight of how the game should be played. Her integrity, selflessness, and commitment to doing things the right way have helped shape our team culture and set a powerful example for everyone in our program. We're incredibly proud of Meg for this well-deserved recognition, as it speaks to the kind of leader and person she is both on and off the court."

Paul Bennett - Head Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Coach on Gavin McCullough and Rachel Tsang - "Both Gavin and Rachel exemplify everything we look for in a student-athlete when it comes to sportsmanship. The respect they show for their opponents, officials and teammates is evident every day and sets the standard for our program both in and out of the water."
