Worcester, MA --- Clark University swept Worcester Polytechnic
Institute for the second time this season in New England Women's
and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's volleyball action at
Kneller Athletic Center on Wednesday evening. Game scores were
30-27, 30-26, and 30-25.
The Cougars, who are on a three-game winning streak, improve to
9-2 overall and reach 3-1 in the conference for the first time
since 1995. WPI drops to 8-10 (0-4 NEWMAC).
Sophomore outside hitter Karleen Porcena (Roxbury, Mass.) led
Clark with eight kills and seven digs. Tiffany Ong (San Francisco,
Cali.) added 15 digs, 12 assists, and two block assists, while
Margo Labadorf (Columbia, Conn.) and Emily Visone (West Hempstead,
N.Y.) each finished with 12 digs.
Senior outside hitter Yaralia Castillo (Metheun, Mass.) had 10
kills and freshman middle-hitter Becca Holmberg (Madison, Conn.)
had eight kills and three service aces to lead WPI. Sophomores
Katie Bomba (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Nikki Croteau (Wilbraham,
Mass.) led WPI defensively with 24 and 18 digs, respectively, while
senior setter Jennifer Parker (Rochester, Mass.) dished out 31
assists.
Clark will travel to the Keene State College Invitational, where
it will face KSC (Noon) and Westfield State College (2 p.m.) on
Saturday. WPI will host Bay Path College at Harrington Auditorium
on Thursday (7:30 p.m.).
