Brandeis 156, WPI 124
Worcester, MA - The WPI Men's Swimming and Diving team suffered
just its second loss of the season with a 156-124 loss to Brandeis
on Saturday. With the loss, the Crimson and Gray fall to 5-2
on the season.
Joel Rousseau (Pittsfield, MA) and Jeff
Meyer (Denver, CO) combined for six first place finishes
on the day. Rousseau, a three-time All American, was in usual
form as he won the 100 yard backstroke (53.95), 200 yard backstroke
(1:58.64), and 100 yard butterfly (50.63). Meyer's victories
came in the 200 yard butterfly (2:01.51), 500 yard freestyle
(4:48.38) and the 200 yard IM (2:00.87). Diver Eric
Wallhagen (Carlisle, MA) had a great day as he placed
first in both the one meter (186.20) and three meter (183.00)
events. Steve Rose (Worcester, MA) and
Minh Truong (West Roxbury, MA) grabbed second
place in the 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke,
respectively.
The Engineers look to get back into the winning column when they
travel to Holy Cross for the Worcester City Championships beginning
on Friday at 6:00pm. WPI has won the last three City
Championships.
