Babson Park, MA ---The WPI men's swimming and
diving team had a victorious day in the pool coming away with a
double dual meet win over Elms (86-15) and host Babson (68-41) on
Saturday afternoon
Freshman Mason Ruffing (Stone Mountain, CA)
continued to impress as he prevailed in the 200-yard IM (2:05.14),
100-yard butterfly (54.89) and 100-yard backstroke (57.23) to help
WPI to its wins. Junior Dan White (Sidney,
ME) took home a pair of wins in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:28.81)
and 500-yard freestyle (5:05.51) while Steve Rose
(Worcester, MA) and Chase Johnson (Eastham, MA)
took home the top prize in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.21) and
100-yard breaststroke (1:07.10), respectively. Freshman
Lee Chiang (Lexington, MA) placed second in the
50-yard freestyle (22.86) and the 100-yard freestyle (49.47) for
the Engineers.
Rounding out the day for WPI was the 200-yard freestyle relay
team of Chiang, While, Johnson and Rose with a first place win
(1:34.43) and the 200-yard medley team consisting of Johnson,
Minh Truong (West Roxbury, MA), Tito
Cruz (Hartford, CT), and David Keck
(Orwigsburg, PA) with a second place finish (1:48.58).
The Engineers are now 3-1 and will travel to Coast Guard on
Saturday for a 1pm meet.
