Worcester, MA --- Michele Farley (Skowhegen,
ME) tallied a goal and dished out two assists to spark visiting
Babson to a 4-0 victory over WPI in NEWMAC field hockey action on
Saturday morning.
With the victory, Babson levels its record at 5-5 while
improving to 2-0 in conference play. WPI is now 5-6 on the
season and 0-2 in NEWMAC action.
Colleen Kelly (Milton, MA) got the Beavers on
the board just 10:18 into the game when she buried a feed from
Farley into the back of the net following a penalty corner.
Babson extended its advantage to 2-0 when Mikayla
Shea (Dover, NH) knocked home a pass from Farley at
53:48. The Beavers added a pair of insurance goals in the
final four minutes when Farley scored unassisted at 66:37 and
Erin Campbell (Arlington, MA) scored from
Jess Paladino (Turner, ME) at 68:31.
Babson goalkeeper Emily Cohn (West Grove, PA)
was credited with one save en route to picking up her first shutout
of the season. WPI goalkeeper Mary Kate
Toomey (Worcester, MA) was notched four saves on the
day.
Both squads will return to action with conference home games on
Tuesday evening at 7pm. WPI will play host to MIT while
Babson entertains Wheaton.
