Bryant 93, WPI 90
Smithfield, RI - In their first meet after returning from holiday
break, the men's swimming and diving team dropped a close
93-90 decision to Bryant on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the
Engineers record now stands at 3-4.
Jeff Meyer (Denver, CO) and Mason
Ruffing (Stone Mountain, CA) each picked up wins for the
Engineers. Meyer's victory came in the 200-yard freestyle
(1:49.76) and he also picked up second place finishes in the 500
(5:00.06) and 1000-yard (10:04.68) freestyles while Ruffing took
first in the 100-yard butterfly (54.90) before finishing up with
second place in the 200-yard IM (2:05.99).
Chase Johnson (Eastham, MA) swam to second place
in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.21) and 100-yard breaststroke
(1:09.10) and Alfred Green (Portmore, Jamaica)
took a second place finish of his own in the 100-yard freestyle
(51.40). Freshman Lee Chiang (Lexington, MA)
grabbed second in the 50-yard free (23.06) and capped off his day
with third place in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.23).
Other third place finishes included Dan White
(Sidney, ME) in the 1000-yard free (10:43.39) and 500-yard free
(5:13.46), Steve Rose (Worcester, MA) in the
100-yard (52.40) and 200-yard freestyles (1:55.50), David
Keck (Orwigsburg, PA) in the 100-yard butterfly (57.24),
Patrick Napier (West Roxbury, MA) in the 100-yard
breaststroke (1:28.24), and Green in the 50-yard freestyle
(23.50).
Men's swimming and diving is now 3-4 and will return to
action on January 17th versus UMass-Dartmouth beginning at 6pm.
