Williamsport, MA --- Junior Larry Loomis
(Plainfield, CT; 174 lbs) went undefeated as he helped WPI post a
2-1 record at the Williams Quad Duals on Saturday. The Engineers
dropped the opening round match (39-6) to Williams and then
rebounded with a 33-16 win over MIT and a 29-12 victory over
Trinity (CT). The Crimson and Gray improve their dual meet record
to 3-7 and three Boynton Hillers posted 2-1 records over the span
of the afternoon.
Loomis, who improved his record to 6-3 on the season, won his
first match by decision (6-3), the second by forfeit, and the third
by Technical Fall. Sophomore Carl Anderson
(Billrica, MA; 125 lbs) posted a pair of impressive victories with
a 6-0 decision versus MIT and an 8-0 major decision versus Trinity.
Junior Matt Wainwright (North Attleboro, MA; 149
lbs) picked up a pin and a close 3-2 decision against Trinity while
freshman Anthony Corbo (Port Washington, NY; 285
lbs) finished the match with a 5-1 winning decision versus Williams
and a win by forfeit.
Tyler Howe (Danbry, CT; 157 lbs) and
Scott Guzman (Acton, ME; 184 lbs) also picked up a
wins by Major Decision in third round to Trinity.
WPI will face-off on Wednesday versus Rhode Island College at 7pm
and then travel to Bridgewater, MA for the NEWA Duals on Sunday at
10am.
