Results
Worcester, MA --- Steve Rose (Worcester,
MA), Jeff Meyer (Denver, CO) and Mason
Ruffing (Stone Mountain, CA) each registered two victories
a piece to lead the men's swimming and diving team to a
hard-fought, 123-91 win over UMass-Dartmouth on Thursday
evening. With the win, the Engineers even their record at
4-4.
Rose won the 50-yard (23.58) and 500-yard (5:13.33) freestyles,
Meyer took first in the 200-yard IM (2:01.25) and 100-yard
backstroke (58.48) while Ruffing was victorious in the 100-yard
(49.67) and 1000-yard freestyles (10:36.01). Freshman
Alford Green (Portmore, Jamaica) picked up a win
in the 100-yard butterfly (56.76) and also took home third in the
200-yard freestyle (1:57.60).
David Keck (Orwigsburg, PA) swam to a second
place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.02) before taking
third (12:05.66) in the 1000-yard freestyle event while Dan
White (Sidney, ME) took home second in both the 100-yard
butterfly (1:00.68) and 100-yard backstroke (1:05.13).
Other top finishes included Chase Johnson
(Eastham, MA) in the 200-yard freestyle (2nd; 1:56.49),
Robert Medaglio (Andover, MA) in the 200-yard IM
(3rd; 2:23.06), Lee Chiang (Lexington, MA) in the
500-yard freestyle (2nd; 5:27.19) and Patrick
Napier (West Roxbury, MA) in the 100-yard breaststroke
(3rd; 1:27.46). In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay
and 200-yard freestyle relay teams each earned first place finishes
to wrap up the competition.
Up next, men's swimming and diving will compete at the Worcester
City Meet beginning on Friday, January 25th at Holy Cross.
