Keene State 171, WPI 129
Worcester, MA --- Sophomores Mason Ruffing
(Stone Mountain, GA) and Lee Chiang (Lexington,
MA) combined for five victories in WPI's Men's Swimming and
Diving 171-129 loss to Keene State on Saturday.
Ruffing picked up wins in the 100-yard backstroke (55.85),
200-yard backstroke (2:00.1) and 400-yard IM (4:29.4) while Chiang
swam to first in the 50-yard (22.24) and 100-yard freestyles
(48.64). Junior Steve Rose (Worcester, MA)
and sophomore Alford Green (Portmore, Jamaica)
finished second (50.45) and third (50.50) behind Chiang in the
100-yard freestyle, respectively. Rose also earned a win in
the 400-yard IM with his time of 4:44.4.
Green went on to cross the finish line first in the 50-yard
butterfly (24.88) and also placed second in the 50-yard freestyle
(22.35). Freshman Andrew Lybarger (Atlanta,
GA) swam a strong meet for the Engineers taking home first in the
200-yard freestyle (1:51.1) before finishing second in the 100-yard
butterfly (54.33) and third in the 500-free (5:05.95).
Dan White (Sidney, ME) took home third (10:31.2)
in the 1000-yard freestyle for the Engineers.
Men's Swimming will return to the pool on Saturday when they
travel to Babson to take on the Beavers beginning at 1pm.
