Worcester, MA --- Freshman Mason Ruffing (Stone
Mountain, CA) and senior Jeff Meyer (Denver, CO)
each swam to first place finishes in two events and swam on a
winning relay team as the WPI men's swimming and diving team
edged city-rival Clark 108-92 on Wednesday evening.
Ruffing took first in the 1000-yard (10:33.45) and 500-yard
freestyle (5:03.51) while Meyer crossed the line first in the
100-yard backstroke (1:04.52) and the 100-yard freestyle (50.34).
Along with junior David Keck (Orwigsburg, PA) and
freshman Lee Chang (Lexington, MA), Ruffing and
Meyer helped to notch a top finish on the winning 200-yard mixed
medley relay team with a time of 1.44.13.
Keck also finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.0) while
Chang took first in the 100-yard butterfly (58.95) and second in
the 200-yard IM (2:09.81). Senior Chase Johnson
(Eastham, MA) also placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (59.90)
and garnered a second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (24.32)
while junior Dan White (Sidney, ME) won the
200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.84.
The men's team will compete in their final dual meet of the
season on Saturday in an away 1pm meet versus Trinity (CT) before
the NEWMAC Championships at the end of the month.
