Hartford, CT --- Men's swimming and diving dropped a hard-fought
151-132 decision to Trinity College on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Engineers fall to 5-6 on the season.
Freshman Mason Ruffing (Stone Mountain, CA) led
WPI with three first place finishes, with wins in the 50-yard
(23.21), 100-yard (50.29) and 200-yard (1:50.50) freestyles.
Senior Jeff Meyer (Denver, CO) picked up first in
the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.98) and 200-yard IM (2:04.97) while
Dan White (Sidney, ME), Alford
Green (Portmore, Jamaica) and David Keck
(Orwigsburg, PA) took home the top prize in the 1000-yard freestyle
(10:28.10), 100-yard butterfly (56.44) and 50-yard freestyle
(25.01), respectively.
Second place finishes included Lee Chiang
(Lexington, MA) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.51), Robert
Medaglio (Andover, MA) in the 100-yard butterfly
(1:04.01), Chase Johnson (Eastham, MA) in the
100-yard backstroke (1:00.32) and Steve Rose
(Worcester, MA) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:10.97).
In addition to their impressive individual finishes, Ruffing,
Meyer, Keck and Rose combined to place first in the 400-yard medley
relay with their time of 3:47.02.
Men's swimming and diving is off until February 29th when they
compete at the NEWMAC Championships at MIT.
