dished out 22 assists and Caitlin O'Neill
(Lynnfield, MA) tallied 13 kills to help pace visiting Babson to a
3-0 victory over WPI in NEWMAC conference volleyball action on
Saturday afternoon. The Beavers took the match by game scores
of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-20.
With the win, Babson improves to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in
conference play while the Engineers fall to 3-8 on the season and
0-2 in NEWMAC action. The Beavers are 2-0 in the NEWMAC for
the first time since the 2000 season.
Meg Flaherty (Hollis, NH) finished behind
O'Neill with eight kills for the Beavers while Shanna
Glassner (Orland Park, IL) and Ryan
Depaoli (Kennesaw, GA) recorded 11 and nine digs,
respectively.
Becca Holmberg (Madison, CT) led the WPI effort
with eight kills and seven digs while teammate Nikki
Croteau (Wilbraham, MA) handed out 19 assists.
Alison Su (Westerly, RI) registered a team-best 11
digs for the Engineers while Joan Porambo (Jim
Thorpe, PA) and Kathryn Bomba (Chelmsford, MA)
each chipped in with seven. Deanna Flaherty
(Millbury, MA) added two solo blocks and 3 assisted blocks for the
Crimson and Gray.
Both squads return to action with NEWMAC contests on Tuesday
evening. WPI entertains Mount Holyoke while Babson ventures
to Wheaton. Both matches are slated to start at 7pm.
