Worcester, MA --- WPI Men's Swimming and Diving took home the title in this weekend's Worcester City Championships, held Friday and Saturday at Holy Cross. The Engineers won nine events at the meet en route to 397 points and a first-place finish. Holy Cross was second with 372 team points, while Clark's 305 points were good for third.

Through the first day of competition, the Holy Cross men's team had a slim one point lead (110-109) over the Engineers.  Highlights on Friday included Dan White's (Sidney, ME) victory in the 1650 yard freestyle (17:50.71) and Mason Ruffing's (Stone Mountain, GA) win in the 200 yard IM (2:04.57).  Sophomore Nick Catano (Goffstown, NH) finished second (18:22.17) behind White in the 1650 yard freestyle.  In relay action WPI captured the top prize and set a new meet record when Lee Chiang (Lexington, MA), Andrew Lybarger (Atlanta, GA), Alford Green (Portmore, Jamaica) and Ruffing combined to post a time of 1:28.81.  The 400 yard medley team of Lybarger, Ruffing, David Keck (Orwigsburg, PA) and Chiang took home second with their 3:45.24 finish.

WPI raced well in day two of competition on Saturday. The Engineers took first in the 200 medley relay, as the team of Ruffing, Chiang, Keck and Lybarger finished in 1:37.06. Worcester native Steve Rose joined in with Ruffing, Chiang and Lybarger to also take first in the 400 yard freestyle relay (3:16.99).
