Babson 149, WPI 132

Babson Park, MA --- Carl Curran (Keene, NH) won three events to pace the Engineers, who fell in a 149-132 defeat at Babson on Saturday afternoon. The team is now 1-3 on the season.

Curran was victorious in three events including the 1000-yard freestyle (10:33.8) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.8). The sophomore was also the anchor leg on the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay, joining Alford Green (Portmore, Jamaica), Duje Jelaska (Brookfield, CT) and James Perez-Rogers (Woodstock, NY) to a first-place time of 3:31.5. Jelaska was second to Curran in both the 500 (5:23.3) and 1000-yard (11:11.4) freestyles.

Lee Chiang (Atlanta, GA) picked up a victory of his own in the 50-yard breaststroke (29.65) before finishing second in the 100-yard freestyle by a mere .02 (48.57). Eric Spazzarini (Enfield, CT) was victorious in the 100-yard IM (58.66), while turning in second-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.9) and 100-yard backstroke (58.17).

Men's Swimming and Diving will return home to face Coast Guard on Saturday for a meet scheduled to begin at noon.
