Babson Park, MA --– Babson sophomore
Meg Flaherty (Hollis, NH) led all players with 12
kills to lead the Beavers to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-18) victory
over visiting WPI in a New England Women's and Men's
Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's volleyball match in
Staake Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Babson raised
its record to 5-5 overall and 2-0 in league play, while the
Engineers fell for just the second time this season to drop to 11-2
overall and 0-2 in the NEWMAC.
In addition to her contest-high 12 kills,
Flaherty also added 11 digs in the victory. Senior captain
Caitlin O'Neill (Lynnfield, MA) added seven
kills, two aces, and four total blocks, and junior Nina
Milovanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) contributed eight kills, an
ace, nine digs, and two block assists. First-year Kathleen
Lynch (Quincy, MA) was once again the team's assist
leader with 30, and senior captain Becca Rydzik
(Beacon Falls, CT) added a match-high 13 digs.
WPI was paced in defeat by senior
Becca Holmberg (Madison, CT), who amassed 10 kills
and 12 digs, and sophomore Kim Woodward (Clifton
Park, NY), who dished out 15 assists.
Both teams will resume play with conference matches this coming
Tuesday. Babson will host Wheaton at 7 p.m., while WPI will play at
Mount Holyoke at 7 p.m.
