Brunswick, ME --- Adam McNally (Leominster, MA) posted WPI Men's Swimming and Diving's lone individual win Saturday as the Engineers fell in their first meet of 2014 to host Bowdoin 113-71. 

The junior touched the wall first in the 400-yard IM, registering a time of 4:20.22 to win by nine seconds. The Crimson and Gray fared well in the event, placing third through fifth with Eric Spazzarini (Enfield, CT) - 4:35.95, Keahi Goodale (Kailua-Kona, HI) - 4:42.35 and Blake Cornachini (Branford, CT) - 4:46.89.

McNally also claimed crucial points with a second place in the 200-yard individual medley, falling in a close finish with a time of 2:00.87.

WPI also won two of the remaining eight events, taking victories in the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relays.

The quartet of Andrew Bauer (Cumberland, RI), Erick Burgwardt (Mendon, NY), Ben List (Bedford, MA) and Andrew Kelleher (Poughquag, NY) captured the 200-yard freestyle (1:28.95), winning by a margin of just under a half-second.

Nathan Hughes (Arlington, VA), List, Bauer and Jonathan Decelle (Rumson, NJ) finished way out in front in the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 3:16.40.

The Engineers took second place in the three of the other four relays, finishing one off Bowdoin in the 400-yard medley relay (3:39.16), in the 1,650-yard freestyle relay (16:39.00) and in the 800-yard medley relay (8:13.66). 

WPI rounded out the swimming events with third place in the 200-yard medley relay (1:42.02), while freshman diver Matt Suarez (Needham, MA) was third in both the 1-meter dive (209.32) and the 3-meter dive (185.47). 

WPI looks to defend its City Championship this coming Friday and Saturday at the Sports and Recreation Center.
