Babson Park, MA --- Senior Victoria Spofford (Merrimac, MA) scored a goal and added an assist to help No. 8 Babson defeat visiting WPI, 4-0, Saturday at MacDowell Field.

The Beavers (10-1, 3-0 NEWMAC) saw junior Elise Towers (Cicero, NY) notch the game-winner at 12:34. Sophomore Lauren Drakeley (Woodbury, CT), classmate Ashley Tango (Reading, MA) and Spofford all deposit goals in the second half. Drakeley and Tango's tallies came 1:12 apart and were assisted by senior Staci Swallow (South Portland, ME) and Spofford, respectively.

Junior Abby King (Fairfield, ME) and freshman Carly Cidado (Easton, MA) each took a shot for the Engineers (4-6, 0-3 NEWMAC) as sophomore Karen Noble (Mariaville, ME) made nine stops on the day. Sophomore Carrie Pozaic (West Wyoming, PA) added a defensive save for the Boynton Hillers. Babson freshman Deirdre Barry (Longmeadow, MA) went untested.

Overall, Babson took 19 of the 21 shots and all 10 on-goal. The hosts also had 14 of the 15 penalty corners.

Both teams are on the road Tuesday as WPI heads to Clark for a 7pm start and Babson draws No. 16 Wellesley at 4pm.
