Chicopee, MA --- Senior Hope Shevchuk (Burlington, CT) scored a goal in each half and classmate Allie Buckley (Worcester, MA) provided the early game-winner as WPI defeated Elms in a road non-conference field hockey matchup Saturday morning.

Buckley struck just 1:51 into the contest with help from freshman Carly Cidado (Easton, MA). Shevchuk, meanwhile, scored following penalty corners in at 21:37 and 38:00. Her second one was aided by senior Jena Mazzucco (Danbury, CT).

The Blazers did not test sophomore netminder Karen Noble (Mariaville, ME) while the Engineers peppered sophomore Jillian Lapponese (Enfield, CT), who made 14 stops. Junior Alyssa Falvo (Wilbraham, MA), sophomore Madison Messier (Warren, MA) and sophomore Chambrielle Genga-Richards (South Windsor, CT) all chipped in with a defensive save.

WPI took 24 shots and were awarded 13 penalty corners.

The Engineers (2-2) host Worcester State at 7pm Tuesday. Elms (0-3) entertains Anna Maria at the same time.
