Cambridge, MA --- WPI juniors Kristen Bender (Simi Valley, CA) and Randy Melanson (Attleboro, MA) competed on day one of the NCAA Division III Diving Regional Friday at MIT. 

Bender began with a 21st-place score of 384.20 on the 1-meter board. Melanson concluded the day with a 19th-place 361.50 on the 3-meter board.

Wellesley's Maura Sticco-Ivins (Framingham, MA) claimed the 1-meter title for the third consecutive year as NYU's Connor Brisson (Greenwich, CT), a sophomore transfer from Indiana University, took the 3-meter crown.

Both Engineers will look to qualify for a trip to Shenandoah, Texas tomorrow as the women's 3-meter begins at noon and the men's 1-meter commences at 4pm.
