WORCESTER -- The WPI women's swimming and diving teams took part in day three of the NEWMAC Championships highlighted by a school record time from Lada DiMascolo (Puyallup, WA) in the 200 Free.
MIT leads the field with 887 total points, adding to their dominance by winning all six events in tonight's portion of the Championship. Wheaton is second with 593 points. Springfield sits third (506), followed by the U.S. Coast Guard in fourth (382.5), Wellesley in fifth (356.5), and WPI in sixth (330). Wrapping up the field, Babson is in seventh (215), Mount Holyoke is in eighth (172), Clark in ninth (129) and Smith tenth (121).
DiMascolo earned the highest finish of the night for the Engineers with a fourth place finish in the 200 Free, also setting the school record with a time of 1:54.46 while previous school record holder Morgan Foltz (North Easton, MA) added another top-10 finish with a ninth place effort in 1:55.94.
Andrea Wu (Redmond, WA) set a personal record in the 100 Fly with a time of 57.42. She set her personal best time of 57.16 in the prelims propelling her to the A final.
Another personal record went down as Elinor Ross (Brandon, VT) finished in ninth place in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:06.79. She was just shades off of her personal record time of 1:06.75 set in the preliminary rounds.
Molly Sykes (Falmouth, MA) came in second place in the B final with a season best time of 4:43.9 in the 400 IM to start off the night while Leah Kolb (Canton, MI) and Audrey Dino (St. Louis, MO) finished 16th and 18th in the 100 Back with times of 1:00.14 and 1:00.79 respectively.
The night rounded out with the 200 Medley relay where the foursome of Kolb, Sykes, Kaitlyn Grove (Cheshire, CT) and DiMascolo took home seventh place with a time of 1:50.11. Dino, Irene Fisher (Foxboro, MA), Rachel Tsang (Acton, MA), and Kristina MacLeod (Jackson Hole, WY) finished 17th overall with a time of 1:52.80.
The final day of action in the NEWMAC Championships is up ahead for the Engineers with the prelims beginning at 10 am followed by the finals at 6 pm. Day four features the 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, Women's 1 meter Dive and will round out with the 400 Free Relay to end the weekend of competition.
