WORCESTER -- The WPI women's swimming and diving teams rounded out their time at the NEWMAC Championships Sunday coming away with a sixth place finish as the squad added four top-10 finishes in the final day of action in the 2022-23 season.
MIT racked up 1,441 total points over the course of the four-day event to captured its 12th straight title and 17th overall. Finishing as runner-up was Wheaton, who amassed 921.5 team points to take second for the fifth straight season. Springfield was third with 795.5 points followed by Coast Guard in fourth with 593.5 and Wellesley rounding out the top five with 524.5. WPI finished sixth with 457.5 points and Babson placed seventh at 332. Mount Holyoke (275), Smith (245.5), and Clark (197) completed the final standings.
The Engineers started off the day with the 1650 finals where Lada DiMascolo (Puyallup, WA) clocked in a personal best time of 18:11.31 to register a ninth place finish. She was joined by Kylie Herbstzuber (Medfield, MA) who also finished with a personal best time of 18:54.22 for a 13th place finish.
Katrina Yurista (Laramie, WY) also added a ninth place finish to the total with her 374.70 showing in the 1-Meter Dive to round out her time at the meet.
In the 200 Fly, Molly Sykes (Falmouth, MA) earned yet another second place finish in the B final with a personal record time of 2:14.15. While Andrea Wu (Redmond, WA) finished 10th in the 100 Free and Morgan Foltz (North Easton, MA) churned out a 16th place finish in 53.49.
Elinor Ross (Brandon, VT) turned out a PR in the 200 Breast with a 17th place finish in a time of 2:28.83 and Leah Kolb (Canton, MI) finished 20th in the 200 Back with a time of 2:13.16.
The meet rounded out with the 400 Free Relay as Foltz, Wu, DiMascolo and Sykes earned a fifth place finish with a time of 3:32.37 while Kristina MacLeod (Jackson Hole, WY), Audrey Dino (St. Louis, MO), Ross and Kolb took 15th with a 3:39.85 showing in the B final.
