Norton, MA --- The WPI women's track and field team took home the overall win at Wheaton College's Lyon Invitational on Saturday. The Engineers racked up 189 points to out-pace the hosts' 136 points. Bridgewater State took third with 105 points, while Colby (71) and Trinity (33) finished out the top five teams.
Crimson and Gray occupied the top five spots in the mile run, with all five times qualifying for postseason competition. Graduate student
Grace Hadley (North Reading, MA) got the win in 5:01.42, followed by graduate student
Amelia Kokernak (Niskayuna, NY) in second in 5:09.81, and senior
Caitlin Guilfoyle (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) in third in 5:18.54. Graduate student
Elise Deshusses (Chapel Hill, NC) was fourth in 5:19.46 with graduate student
Rachel Hurley (Peterborough, NH) taking fifth in 5:19.87.
Freshman
Maeve Steckley (Rochester, NY) led four Engineers in the top five in the 800-meter event, tallying a time of 2:32.07 to win her first collegiate event. Senior
Deidra Anderson (Billerica, MA) was third in 2:40.58, followed by seniors
Abby Hodges (North Easton, MA) and
Kayla Condon (Wethersfield, CT) in fourth (2:40.60) and fifth (2:40.68).
Sophomore
Corryn Fisher (Swansea, MA) and senior
Vivienne Evans (Newtown Square, PA) both hit New England Division III qualifying times at the event. Fisher nabbed hers in the 60-meter hurdles, taking fourth place overall in 9.66, while Evans was sixth in the 60-meter dash in 7.95 to earn her postseason mark.
Senior
Morgan Collins (Hudson, MA) had a great day, recording a personal best in the weight throw. She finished second overall in 14.78m, also hitting a post-season qualifying mark.

Amanda Borden (Sherborn, MA) and sophomore
Lydia Beers (Norfolk, CT) put up top-five finishes in the high jump, each going 1.51m. Borden took fourth in the event, while Beers was fifth.
It was a clean sweep for Engineers in the pole vault, led by a win from freshman
Charly Painter (Littleton, MA) who went 2.80m. Sophomore
Emilia Nadolski (Chicopee, MA) was second and freshman
Drew Perry (North Andover, MA) was third, also going 2.80m, while Borden took fourth in 2.50m.
Three Engineers placed in the top five in the shot put, led by senior
Elizabeth Matticoli (South Brunswick, NJ) in third with a throw of 10.45m. Collins took fourth (9.99m), while sophomore
Katy Gorden (Wayne, NJ) tied for fifth with a 9.40m throw.
Freshman
Brianna Landry (Cumberland, RI) made the most of her first meet, finishing second overall in the long jump, with a leap of 4.76m followed by a sixth-place effort in the triple jump with a 9.15m leap. Junior
Cassie Zimmerman (East Hampton, CT) went 10.09m to take fourth.
Wrapping up the top-five individual finishers, senior
Isabel Hallal (Foxboro, MA) took fifth in the 300m, recording a time of 43.98.

Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA), sophomore
Morgan Bilodeau (Dracut), and Steckley finished second, recording a time of 4:22.48.
Closing out the meet, Evans, seniors
Jazmyn Ewing (Worcester, MA) and
Leithsa Dimanche (Billerica, MA), and junior
Lauren Mitcheson (West Bridgewater, MA) combined for a second place finish in the 4x200-meter relay in a time of 1:47.96, just .56 from the winning time.
On Sunday, Hadley competed in the 5,000 meters in the UMass Flagship Indoor Invitational at the TRACK at New Balance. The graduate student was eighth overall and the top Division III runner with a time of 9:59.56, ranking fifth in Division III this season.
