Kingston, RI --- The WPI women's track and field team recorded six postseason qualifying standards and three top-ten finishes at the URI Invitational at Mackal Field House on Saturday.
Four Engineers hit postseason qualifying standards in the 1,000m event, with graduate student
Amelia Kokernak (Niskayuna, NY) taking a top-ten finish in 3:03.17. Graduate student
Charlotte Kokernak (Niskayuna, NY) took 13th in 3:05.98, while senior
Caitlin Guilfoyle (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) was 14th in 3:07.54. Graduate student
Elise Deshusses (Chapel Hill, NC) rounded out the New England Division III qualifiers at 3:09.14.
Senior
Vivienne Evans (Newtown Square, PA) had a strong meet, qualifying for postseason competition in the 200m dash and recording a top-ten finish in the 60m dash. In the 200 she was fifth overall in 26.43, while in the 60, she took ninth in 7.96 seconds.
Senior
Isabel Hallal (Foxboro, MA) also recorded a New England Division III Championship time. She tallied a time of 1:21.54 in the 500m.
Junior
Olivia Spielberger (Hingham, MA) notched a 10th-place finish in the triple jump, going 10.29m.
In the shot put, seniors
Elizabeth Matticoli (South Brunswick, NJ) and
Morgan Collins (Hudson, MA) each tallied season bests. Matticoli notched a 11.16m effort, while Collins went 10.70m.
The Engineers continue the season on Saturday, January 27 at the Wheaton Invitational beginning at 10am.
