Elizabeth Matticoli (South Brunswick, NJ) earned All-New England honors at the opening day of the NEICAAA championships at The Track at New Balance.
Opening the action in Boston was freshman
Ethan Anderson (North Haven, CT) in the weight throw with a 14.44m toss this morning for 22nd overall.
On the track
Tristan Andrew (Newtown, CT) finished 12th in the 200 meter dash after crossing the line at 22.23. Fleck brought in the first All-New England accolade of the day in the pole vault finishing fourth overall after clearing the 4.70m mark for his second highest clearance of the indoor season.
Seniors
Vivienne Evans (Newtown Square, PA) and
Jazmyn Ewing (Worcester, MA) clocked 25.45 and 26.51 respectively in the 200. Evans' time was good for seventh overall and a spot in the final on Saturday.
Matticoli marked a new personal best in the weight throw en route to a sixth-place finish and All-NEICAAA distinction with a 14.65m heave.
WPI's men's squad is tied 12th overall and fourth among NCAA Division III competition with five points as the women's team is in 21st and seventh among DIII foes heading into day two with three points.
The Crimson and Gray will continue NEICAAA action tomorrow at The Track at New Balance at 9:30am. Meanwhile a few members of the women's squad will head to the Tufts Qualifying Meet in Medford for the DMR scheduled for 1pm.
