NEWMAC Baseball Athlete of the Week - Andrew Cash

Westwood, MA --- Junior Andrew Cash (Marlboro, MA) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for the week ending on March 24th. Wheaton's Ryan McCarroll (Clifton Park, NY) was named the league's Pitcher of the Week.

Cash collected hits in seven of his 11 at-bats last week on his way to delivering a .636 batting average and an outstanding slash line of .636/.667/1.455. The junior outfielder blasted three homers in two contests to go along with six runs scored and 10 RBI along with a slugging percentage of 1.455. Cash compiled three hits, including a pair of home runs and seven total runs batted in in the 18-16 victory over previously undefeated Roger Williams on Tuesday before smashing four more hits, with a homer, and driving in three more runs in an 15-13 setback to Suffolk the following day.

This week's honor for Cash marks his second of the 2024 campaign as he was named the league's Athlete of the Week just two weeks ago. Overall, the Engineers have claimed five weekly accolades in the first four weeks of the season.

WPI (10-4) travels to Providence today to take on Johnson & Wales in a non-conference tilt starting at 4pm before opening NEWMAC action as the Engineers are set to host Wheaton tomorrow at the New England Baseball Complex at 3:30pm. The Crimson and Gray will close out the week in a home contest versus Eastern Connecticut Thursday, March 28th at 3:30pm before heading to Waltham to square off with Brandeis in a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, March 30th at 1 and 4pm.
