Grace Hadley (North Reading, MA) won three conference championships in record-breaking performances and
Lauren Coutu (Baldwinville, MA) took home the heptathlon title as the WPI women's track and field team claimed second place at the 2024 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) outdoor championships.
Hadley was NEWMAC champion in the 800 meters (2:09.65), 1500 meters (4:25.97) and 5,000 meters (16:52.57). Those three wins represented half of the six meet records that were broken during this year's championships.
Coutu won the shot put (9.07m) and javelin (30.08m) and finished second in the high jump (1.37m) during the heptathlon competition, which she won with 3,360 points.
WPI finished with 131.5 points, well clear of third place Coast Guard. The MIT women joined their men's team as NEWMAC champions with 260 total points.
Bailey Allmon (Woodbine, MD) finished in third place in the 400 hurdles (1:09.12), while
Beth Brown (Allentwon, PA) took fifth.
Vivienne Evans (Newtown Square, PA) was third in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200 meters to help the WPI team score.
Isabel Hallal (Foxboro, MA) took fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.23.
Caitlin Guilfoyle (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) placed fourth in the 1500 (4:40.75).
Corryn Fisher (Swansea, MA) scored with a fifth place result in the 100 hurdles (15.90). Fisher, Evans,
Jazmyn Ewing (Worcester, MA) and
Leithsa Dimanche (Billerica, MA) combined for a fourth place finish in the 4x100 relay.
Morgan Collins (Hudson, MA) took fourth place in the main shot put competition with a throw of 11.73m and third in the hammer (46.64m).
Elizabeth Matticoli (South Brunswick, NJ) was third in the javelin (37.35m) and fourth in the hammer (45.92m) and discus (34.38m).
In other field events,
Cassie Zimmerman (East Hampton, CT) took a sixth place showing in the triple jump (10.70m)
