Grace Hadley (North Reading, MA) captured the 800 meter race and finished second on the 4x800 relay and
Elizabeth Matticoli (South Brunswick, NJ) placed second in the javelin as WPI women's track and field finished eighth overall as a team at the two-day New England Division III Track and Field Championships at Mount Holyoke on Friday and Saturday.
As a team, the Crimson and Gray amassed 33.5 points and were just 3.5 points out of fourth place. MIT won the team title with 141.5 points while Middlebury (54) was second and Bowdoin (45) third.

Hadley smashed her school record in the 800 meters, running the second fastest time in Division III this season and the 10th quickest all-time by clocking a 2:06.65. She ended the weekend by anchoring the 4x800 relay with
Elise Deshusses (Chapel Hill, NC),
Caitlin Guilfoyle (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) and
Charlotte Kokernak (Niskayuna), as the foursome ran a 9:16.87. Â Additionally, Deshusses was 11th in the 800 (2:18.92) and Kokernak 15th in the 1,500 (4:58.43).

Matticoli was busy Friday, heaving the javelin 129-1 to take second and launching the hammer 146-6 on her way to a 10th place performance.Â
Morgan Collins (Hudson, MA) took fourth in the hammer with a PR of 155-9 before coming back Saturday in the shot put (16th - 36-7) and discus (18th - 112-3).Â
Amanda Borden (Sherborn, MA) netted a 10th place showing in the high jump with a height of 5-1.75 and
Katy Gorden (Wayne, NJ) placed 19th in the javelin with a throw of 104-2.

The 4x100 meter relay quartet of
Corryn Fisher (Swansea, MA),
Jazmyn Ewing (Worcester, MA),
Vivienne Evans (Newtown Square, PA) and
Leithsa Dimanche (Billerica, MA) earned all-New England status with a season-best time and fourth place time of 48.74. Evans also earned honors in the 100 meters by finishing sixth in a time of 12:62 and was 22nd in the 200 (26.18). Â

Fisher just missed out on All-New England individual honors as she placed ninth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.55.Â
Lauren Coutu (Baldwinville, MA) had a career meet in the heptathlon, amassing 3,427 points to place 11th. In the 400,
Isabel Hallal (Foxboro, MA) clocked in a 1:00.56 time for 21st overall.

The Engineers are back at it next Friday and Saturday, May 10th and 11th in the All-New England All-Divisions Championships at Holy Cross.
