Women’s Cross Country Records Top Five Finish at Lehigh’s 51st Annual Paul Short Run

Bethlehem, PA --- WPI Women's Cross Country finished fifth overall among 34 squads in the 51st Annual Paul Short Run hosted by NCAA Division I Lehigh at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course on the campus of NCAA Division I Lehigh on Friday afternoon.

The Crimson and Gray competed in the Women's College Green 6,000-meter race in the final slot of the 10-race day in Bethlehem. The top three team performances in the 286-runner and 34-team field was NCAA Division II Clarion with 133 team points with three top-10 finishes followed by Thomas Jefferson with 146 points and West Chester with 173 points. First among NCAA Division III squads and fourth overall was Franklin & Marshall with 212 points three runners in the top 20 as the Engineers rounded out the top five team placements at 226 points.

Leading the Crimson and Gray was senior Sophia Reynolds (Andover, NH) completing the trek in 23:43.9 for 23rd overall followed by sophomore Catherine Daly (Groton, MA) who clocked in a 24:17.0 time for 36th as Kayleigh Carnazza (Virginia Beach, VA) recorded a 24:21.2 mark for 38th overall. Rounding out the marks for the Engineers was Beth Irwin (Guilderland, NY) - 24:41.0, Grace Connell (Far Hills, NJ) - 25:09.3, Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA) - 25:39.1, Sabrina Cady (Lowell, MA) - 26:03.8 and Emma Conway(Suffield, CT) - 26:49.9.

WPI returns to action in two weeks at the Conn College Invitational on Saturday, October 18th, scheduled for a 10am start.
