Waltham, MA --- Led by a runner-up finish from freshman
Addison Collins (Tyngsboro, MA) and multiple top-five efforts, the WPI women's indoor track and field team placed sixth at Brandeis' Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational on Saturday.
As a team, WPI finished with 61.5 points. Colby claimed the team title with 101.5 points, followed by Brandeis (92) and Wheaton (87) in the top three.
Collins turned in WPI's top individual finish of the day in the triple jump, placing second with a mark of 10.63 meters. Classmate
Shayna Hailey (Stoughton, MA) also scored in the event, finishing fifth with a jump of 10.10 meters.
On the track, graduate student
Vivienne Evans (Newtown Square, PA) paced the Engineers in the sprints, finishing fourth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.98. Sophomore
Rayna Thompson (Brentwood, NH) followed closely behind in fifth place at 8.00, while sophomore
Madisen McLeod (Ledyard, CT) added a sixth-place effort in 9.94.
In the middle distances, junior
Maeve Steckley (Rochester, NY) led WPI with a fifth-place finish in the 1000 meters, running a personal-best time of 3:09.44. Freshman
Sabrina Cady (Lowell, MA) followed in seventh place with a time of 3:10.87.
Senior
Bailey Allmon (Woodbine, MD) also recorded a personal best in the 500 meters, crossing the line in 1:26.71, while freshman
Samantha Alley (Randolph, NJ) placed seventh in the event with a time of 1:24.49.
Senior
Sophia Reynolds (Andover, NH) provided a strong showing in the 3000 meters, finishing sixth overall in a time of 10:45.12.
The Engineers collected several scoring efforts in the field events, led by freshman
Ella Stone (Branford, CT), who placed fourth in the high jump after clearing 1.43 meters. McLeod and senior
Lauren Coutu (Baldwinville, MA) both tied for eighth in the event at 1.38 meters. Stone also added a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 4.90 meters, while senior
Lydia Beers (Norfolk, CT) placed seventh at 4.69 meters.
In the throws, senior
Katy Gorden (Wayne, NJ) finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 9.99 meters and placed seventh in the weight throw at 11.53 meters. Sophomore
Sydney Shilts (Flemington, NJ) added a fourth-place finish in the weight throw, registering a distance of 12.12 meters.
WPI also factored into the relay scoring, as the 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore
