New Orleans, LA ---
Gavin Fleck (Bend, OR) has been selected as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year for the Northeast Region.
Each of the 10 regions - Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, Northeast, South and West - honored both genders' top track and field athletes, along with the top men's and women's head and assistant coaches. Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches, and only individuals from member programs are eligible.
Fleck, who earned All-Region honors in the pole vault last week, capped another outstanding indoor season. The senior cleared a season-best and program-record 5.07 meters (16-7.5) at the Tufts 6-Way Invitational in early February, the middle meet of five consecutive victories to close the regular season.
Fleck continued his strong campaign by capturing the New England Division III Championship earlier this month and earning his second career podium finish at the NCAA Championship with an eighth-place showing at the Birmingham CrossPlex. He previously placed seventh at the 2024 Indoor Championship and later earned second-team All-America honors from the USTFCCCA with a ninth-place finish at the
2024 Outdoor Championship.
The Crimson and Gray open the outdoor portion of their schedule Saturday, March 28 at 10:30am at the Corsair Classic, hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
