Ethan Anderson-WPI Men's Track & Field-2026

Men’s 4x100 Relay Repeats; Anderson Claims Men’s NEWMAC Field Athlete of the Week Citation

Ethan Anderson - NEWMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Marlboro, MA --- WPI men's track and field junior Ethan Anderson (North Haven, CT) and the 4x100-meter relay team garnered New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Track & Field weekly accolades for the week ending on April 5th.

Joining WPI in this week's NEWMAC Men's Track & Field honors was MIT's Jake Cobb, who was named Track Athlete of the Week.

In the field, Anderson turned in a dominant all-around performance in the throws at the Springfield College Classic, sweeping the shot put (15.22m), discus (49.02m), and hammer throw (50.10m). The junior currently ranks first in the NEWMAC in both the shot put and discus, including a discus mark that sits 18th nationally, while also ranking second in the conference in the hammer. His trio of victories powered a strong showing for the Engineers in the field events.

On the track, the quartet of junior Sam Manteria (Wilbraham, MA), sophomore Ethan Schnyer (Nashua, NH), junior Justin Serrecchia (Lakeville, MA), and senior Alex Cole (Weymouth, MA) continued its strong early-season form, capturing first place in the 4x100-meter relay at the Springfield College Classic with a season-best time of 41.43. The mark ranks first in the NEWMAC and 18th nationally, as the group secured its second victory in as many weeks with a clean and efficient race.

This week's honor marks the second consecutive NEWMAC recognition for the 4x100 relay unit and third overall including the field athlete weekly honor for Anderson, the 2025 NEWMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Meet, in his first career weekly conference citation.

WPI continues a strong outdoor season as the Engineers turn to the two-day Tufts Spring Stampede starting on Friday.
