Women’s Track and Field Garners Eight All-NED3 Honors in Ninth Place Team Finish

Springfield, MA --- The WPI women's track and field team recorded eight All-New England performances and placed ninth overall at the New England Division III Championships with 31 points.
 
Sophomore Rayna Thompson (Brentwood, NH) led the Engineers on the track with a third-place finish in the 400 meters, clocking 57.66 to earn All-New England Division III honors. In the 100-meter final, graduate student Vivienne Evans (Newtown Square, PA) placed fifth with a time of 12.68 to also earn All-New England distinction.
 
In the hurdles, senior Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA) turned in a personal-best performance to place third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.76), while senior Bailey Allmon (Woodbine, MD) also competed, posting a time of 1:06.16.
 
In the distance events, sophomore Catherine Daly (Groton, MA) delivered a breakthrough performance in the 3000-meter steeplechase, placing fifth in 11:42.37 with a significant personal best.
 
In the field events, freshman Addison Pong (Bolton, MA) earned All-New England honors with an eighth-place finish in the shot put (12.14m). Freshman Shayna Hailey (Stoughton, MA) competed in the triple jump, recording a mark of 10.99 meters.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Julia Fronc (Plaistow, NH), Sabrina Cady (Lowell, MA), Allmon, and Brown placed fifth overall in 4:05.73 to earn All-New England recognition.
 
In the heptathlon, sophomore Caetlyn Embree (Sherborn, MA) placed fifth overall with 3,708 points, while senior Lauren Coutu (Baldwinville, MA) finished seventh with 3,607 points, both achieving personal-best totals and earning All-New England honors. Sophomore Emma Conway (Suffield, CT) placed ninth with 3,296 points.
 
Also competing on the track, Cady recorded a time of 2:24.76 in the 800 meters.
 
WPI finished ninth overall with 31 points. Connecticut College captured the team title with 100 points, followed by MIT (66.5) and Tufts (59).
 
Select members of the Engineers will compete next at the Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza, hosted by Williams on May 8-9.
