WORCESTER --- The WPI women's soccer program was named a recipient of the 2025-26 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, as announced by the organization earlier this month.

The Engineers posted a 3.69 team grade-point average during the 2025-26 academic year under head coach Steph Riley-Schafer, earning recognition for the program's success in the classroom.

On the field, WPI finished the 2025 campaign with an 11-7-3 overall record and a 5-4-2 mark in NEWMAC play, advancing to the NEWMAC Tournament. The Crimson and Gray registered 10 shutouts during the season.

WPI was one of 451 women's soccer programs nationally to earn the Team Academic Award. To qualify for the honor, programs must post a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year. In total, 777 collegiate soccer teams were recognized, including 326 men's programs, while 175 institutions had both their men's and women's teams honored.

The Engineers begin the 2026 campaign on Tuesday, September 1 as they are set to host Union (NY) at 3pm.
