WORCESTER -- The WPI baseball team has once again been recognized for its success in the classroom, earning the 2025-26 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack.
 
The honor marks the Engineers' third ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award in the past four years and recognizes programs that posted a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the 2025-26 academic year.
 
WPI was one of nearly 500 collegiate baseball programs and more than 800 high school and college programs nationwide to receive the distinction this year.
 
The Crimson and Gray posted a program-record 3.74 team GPA and paced the nine-team NEWMAC with 26 Academic All-Conference selections. Additionally, five Engineers -Jacob Wiberg (Exeter, NH), Jonathan Lattimer (Windsor, CT), Jack Zawacki (Pittsford, NY), Zachary Roethlein (Pomfret Center, CT) and Chuck Cappello (Southboro, MA) - earned 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors.
 
WPI wrapped up the 2026 campaign with a 15-22 overall record.
